Sunday's Song

Hey guys!  I am back to the daily grind and schedule of work again, we started back up officially August 2nd...so that means I will be back to some more consistent blogging.  I don't have that long of a break during summer away from teaching, so I really wanted to take that time to unplug {as much as humanly possible in the 21st century} and enjoy the fresh air, travel and spend plenty of time with friends!

On Friday night, I headed over to "East Williamsburg" (which is realtor speak for Bushwick) and went to The Acheron to see Braveyoung.

When we arrived at the venue, which...since I moved here has been the first place in NYC to remind me of Olneyville, Braveyoung was set up and ready to play.

The music was dreamy and pretty, with builds and releases that reminded me of the ocean.  It made me feel like Braveyoung could easily write the score to a Pan's Labyrinth-esque film.

What I've Been Up To: Summer, NYC

The Body and the Assembly of Light Choir stopped through NYC on their tour and I caught the show at Le Poisson Rouge.  It was totally killer.  Here are some links to a video on NPR of the show and an interview with Chip from The Body, as well as the tour wrap up from Jaime Lowe.

Here are some photos from the show that night and our pizza run afterward.
 NYC has street fairs quite often, and they happen even more often in the summer.  Here are some photos from the Stinky Cheese Fair...and yes, these people are dressed up as gouda, and a cheese grater, hilarious!
To me, summer is just not complete without enjoying your ice cold beer outside.  Here are some photos of us doing just that in Astoria at Club 21. Where, by the way, they have a really banging salad.
Is it just me, or are sunsets more beautiful in summer?  I tend to think that sunsets are even better when you are driving in your car almost killing yourself to try to take a photo out the window.  They are allusive and dangerous, like double rainbows.
Hope you are enjoying your summer too!

{so awesome}
My dear friend Jaime Lowe has left me high and dry in New York City without my favorite dance buddy, park partner and shopping sidekick to head out on tour with The Body singing for the The Assembly of Light Women's Choir.
If that wasn't cool enough, she is blogging about the whole experience with Bust Magazine!

Be sure to follow the blog, and her journey: and if you are in any of these towns: check out the awesomeness that is The Body teaming up with these amazing ladies!
